Everyday Science
Hangovers, the bane of many. Most often this ailment is treated with various foods, drinks, tricks, and prayer – all to varying degrees of success. A new aid for those who enjoy the festive evenings but despise the following vomitous mornings seems to be right around the corner, however. Not days after it was discovered that the most likely cause for a painful hangover is a buildup of a certain toxic compound in the body, various research groups dove headfirst into developing a cure.
Currently, one lab is seeking to remove the toxic compound from alcohol without changing its other effects too radically, while another is working on ways of safely drawing the toxins quickly out of the system during the following night. Since so far all involved labs have been Protostar funded, I expect progress to be swift. There may very well be a solution up for grabs in vending machines and shops all over the universe within the year, but prepare for the prices to be high until some competition forms – current cost estimates place this cure far out of reach for the majority.
DID YOU KNOW?
Due to the unique conditions on Nexus, the effects of local plants are far more potent than almost anywhere else in the universe. For example, ingesting only 15ml of Serpentlily extract is enough to not only cure heartburn but also safely bind any dangerous toxins you might have in your system and keep them from entering your bloodstream.
