This Radiant Mechari is Taking Everyone to Church
Just about everyone looks to something for guidance every now and again, I find at times I ask Werza for an answer to a question, or for the strength to not punch somebody square in their face. For much of the Dominion population, the Scions are those who are often prayed to. As we now move along the land the Eldan have stepped on themselves, so is it important that we listen to those of the Vigilant Church, even for those of us not following their specific teachings.
Now is a more important time than ever to seek the light of the church, as each day wears our soldiers down, more problems arise, and our citizens begin to lose hope. Everyone needs a place to gather, and they also need someone to look to. The person to answer that call was Tannis Septacron, as her church has been attracting many over the past several Sunday nights. She is cool, calculated, and need I say it? She’s downright gorgeous, so sleek and elegant. Miss Tannis is a brave and knowledgeable leader; her sermons are not only informative but they
are entertaining and reach out to everyone, even those not directly in the church.
Having been on the field, Tannis had not been to the grand capital city of Illium to observe the citizens as they have been. When her unit’s tour was finished and was put into reserve, Miss Septacron noticed hatred, fear, and discourse between the different races and cultures of the Dominion family, she was disappointed and knew there was something she needed to do. Built with astonishing speed, and with the help of not only the settlement authority and plenty of her own in the Radiant Legion, a brand new church shimmered on the soil and thus would begin a new chapter in the Vigilant Church’s reach out to inform, comfort, and bring together the Dominion people.
You ask what is different about Tannis’s sermons, and they key is that she has had plenty of experience, being alive more than most of us, though I’ll never mention a woman’s actual age. Throughout her sermons, she’s learned to roll with her audience, to entertain, to understand, to really tailor her lesson of the night to fit the need of everyone, from highborn to Chua, there is something we can all relate to in what Miss Tannis has to say.
Instead of reading out of a book, telling stories of the Scions, trying to drone on about what should and shouldn’t be done for an hour or so, Tannis used current examples and relevant topics in order to make a point.
Discussions have ranged from perspective in the war, to guest lectures by regulars, with some key input on Miss Septacron’s part. There has never been a moment where I personally haven’t been on the edge of my seat. Miss Septacron’s relatability stems from not just her experience, but she’s a family-oriented person, a loving and caring sister, spending her free time with her siblings as often as she can when not tending to the larger family of us all. Her ability to let other’s ask questions and give their input, make a point and try to defend it, is why Sunday nights have become a great time to sit in the church and learn.
In Tannis’s grand design of the church, she didn’t just want it to be that, but a bastion of learning and a safe haven for Dominion citizens to come together in an environment of care, something to act as a second home. One could easily get lost in the bright and shining walls, the vast library, and feel safe on the church grounds, with an opportunity to relax with friends and even those who have yet to become friends that everyone meets.
Currently, Tannis’s next goal is to expand, to not just have the one church, but to make safe havens in many different places on Nexus, places the Radiant Legion can guard and teach those who seek the knowledge and sanctuary.
I’d like to end this with something I thought was powerful enough, to sum up, everything, all of Tannis’s wants and goals for the church, something profound that left me thinking for not just hours after, but still resonates in my head.
I asked what she wanted my readers to walk away with, and she didn’t disappoint; “We live in interesting times, and whatever comes next for us, we must have faith; faith not necessarily in the church or the scions, but in one another, and in yourselves. Believe in your ability to triumph over what this life throws at you, and you’ll be able to greet the day that comes after.”
