The Married Life of Pistols and Void Magic

This has been one of the subjects that interest me a lot as an officer in Dominion military; void firearms. My article is on the methodology used by Spellslinger—which I am one—who combined their void-magic with firefights.

For those who are not familiar with spellslingers, imagine them as gunfighters of the Fringe stories but having the ability to teleport and cast elemental magic upon their foes. These void pistol fighters achieve these skills through casting sigils and runes to draw energy from the another dimension called “Void”. In addition to the source of energy, spellslingers can use them through portal magic for short teleport, safe retreat, or switching positions from the enemy's. Spellslingers can also use the void magic to heal themselves or their allies. Despite the speediness of the void teleportation, many attempts on interstellar travel found its shortfalls as more advanced technologies are disabled permanently the moment it enters the portal into the void. Those with prosthetics, however, managed to circumvent the issue through stand-by mode that momentarily shut the machine down while in transit. Now that I mentioned the basics of the void to the readers, let's move on to the firearms.

Although many void practitioners can use small arms like rifles and machine guns, pistols are preferred due to their compact design that is suitable for the mobility-based combat. The pistol seen in this picture is Fleet Custom, which is a Dominion Fleet standard issue pistol modified for use by void practitioners. Although it can function as a sidearm to a normal person, this has been customized to the need of Spellslinger like myself. Though the design may not be as advanced with more high-end pistols owned by Highborn adventurers, the inclusion of void-channeling materials in handgrip and sigils spaces around the pistol allow this fine-crafted-but-simple firearm to be used in full potential by those who draw from the void to channel it to this pistol. Furthermore, a spellslinger can ease the logistic issues on ammunitions as they can utilize the void energy and elements (fire, and ice mostly) drawn from the void to dispense upon their foes with destruction or allies with health. Although technically limitless, a spellslinger can exert more of their innate connection to the void to cast more powerful spells for a short time. Despite the contrary belief, a gun of a spellslinger can utilize bullets that can also be charged with sigils to give a nasty surprise to the enemy. In conclusion, Spellslingers are a gunfighter who can summon the energy from another dimension to either blast the enemy or heal their allies with their magic pistols. These magical powers are achieved through the creation of sigils that allow the user to transfer the power of the void to their gun. Their superior mobility and access to void-related firepower meant that pistols are preferred for their compact design. Not only the weapon, the void practitioners can manipulate the energy of the void to teleport to another dimension briefly and even switch places with their enemies. Many pistols used by Spellslingers are modified for the casters to cast sigils and draw void-energy easily. Many of these magic pistols also allow the use of bullets, which can also be infused with sigils for certain situations.
